Get ready to feel the indie-pop nostalgia! Heavenly, the beloved quintet, is back after a 30-year hiatus and they're bringing a brand new album with them! Get excited, because Highway to Heavenly is set to drop in February 2026. This marks a major comeback for the band, and it's something fans have been eagerly anticipating.
The band, comprised of original members Amelia Fletcher, Cathy Rogers, Peter Momtchiloff, and Rob Pursey, along with new drummer Ian Button, recorded the album with producer Toby Burroughs. It's slated for release on February 27th under Skep Wax, the label owned by Fletcher and Pursey.
The album's second single, the upbeat and catchy "Excuse Me," is already out there, giving fans a taste of what's to come. (Remember their lead single, "Portland Town," which dropped last June?)
But here's where it gets interesting... Heavenly's statement promises an album that dives deep into a range of emotions, including "anger, grief, empathy, and love." They're also taking a stand, setting themselves "in opposition to the resurgence of the cold ‘masculine energy’ that is making the world a miserable, aggressive place."
From 1989 to 1996, Heavenly blessed us with four studio projects before disbanding due to the tragic passing of drummer Matthew Fletcher. The remaining members later formed Marine Research and Tender Trap before reuniting as Heavenly in 2023.
Here's a sneak peek at the Highway to Heavenly tracklist:
- "Scene Stealing"
- "Portland Town"
- "Press Return"
- "Skep Wax"
- "Deflicted"
- "Excuse Me"
- "A Different Beat"
- "Good Times"
- "The Neverseen"
- "She Is The One"
- "That Last Day"
