This service has been a mobile solution for years, and now it's making its way to your living room. Fender Play offers lessons for guitar, bass, and even ukulele, providing a structured approach to learning. The app features songs to learn and a feedback mode using your phone's microphone to help you along the way.
But here's where it gets interesting: the Fender Play app is coming to Samsung TVs. However, there's a catch.
First, the microphone feedback mode won't be available on the TV app, as Samsung hasn't confirmed support for it. This means you'll miss out on the real-time feedback that helps you refine your technique.
Second, the app is exclusive to Samsung TVs that use the Tizen operating system. This is a crucial detail because not all Tizen TVs are created equal. While Tizen is used on various TVs, including some from brands like Bauhn, the Fender Play app will only be available on Samsung models.
Cliff Kim, Vice President of Growth Strategy for Digital Products at Fender, expressed his excitement, stating, "We are thrilled to bring Fender Play’s immersive learning experience to Samsung TV users, helping guitar enthusiasts take their skills to the next level." He added, "Our mission has always been to educate and inspire players globally, and this partnership gives music lovers the opportunity to learn, practice, and play with Fender Play’s high-quality, interactive lessons directly on their Samsung TV."
Australians can expect the Fender app on last year’s Samsung TVs as well as this year’s later this year. Pricing details for the local market are yet to be confirmed. Fender Play typically charges around $20 monthly or $150 annually in US dollars.
